Trojans named to All-SEC, district and academic teams

Photo by: JUSTIN WEBSTER/Ledger photo The Fairfield baseball team finished the season 30-9 overall and 13-3 during the Southeast Conference schedule, claiming the SEC title. The Trojans had three first first-team selections, seven second-team selections, two honorable mentions and 10 all-academic honorees.

The Fairfield baseball teams’ season ended Wednesday night with a 4-0 loss at Solon in the Class 3A substate 5 final, leaving the Trojans with a 30-9 overall record after going 13-3 during the Southeast Conference schedule and reclaiming the SEC title.

The team’s longest winning streak was nine games between June 4 when they took two from Fort Madison and the opening game of the Knoxville doubleheader that they won 11-6 before ending their streak with a loss in game two, 10-8.

With each team from the conference now eliminated, all-SEC, all-academic and all-district teams have been released.

The Trojans had three players named to the SEC first-team, seven named to the second-team and two honorable mentions with 10 players earning all-academic honors.
