The Trojan varsity baseball team barely broke a sweat during a couple of lop-sided victories over Fort Madison Monday at home.

Cam Baumann kept the Bloodhounds off the board in Game 1, downing the visitors 11-0. In Game 2, Jackson Weaton held Fort Madison to three hits and one run as the Trojans rolled to a 14-1 win.

Last week, the Trojans fell to Mid-Prairie 7-6 Thursday on the road.

The Trojans scored six in the second, two in the third and three in the fourth. Meanwhile, the Bloodhounds could do nothing against Baumann, who was masterful in his five innings on the hill. Baumann threw nearly 80 percent of his pitches for strikes as he struck out nine batters while walking none. He allowed three hits in his shutout performance.

Baumann also had two hits at the plate and drove in two runs. Cade Lisk tripled, scored twice and drove in a run. Hunter Drish singled, walked, scored and batted in a run. Austin Simpson went 1-2 with a walk and two batted in. Brandon Smithburg singled, scored and drove in one.

Recording stolen bases were Hunter Drish, Lisk, Simpson, Tristin Waugh and Cooper Drish with two.

Fairfield’s bats continued to sizzle in the nightcap. Hunter Drish led the way with three RBIs and two runs. Brian Buch singled and drove in two. Hoskins went 2-2 with two runs and two RBIs. Simpson walked, singled, scored and drove in a run. Baumann tripled and scored twice. Smithburg went 1-2 with two runs, a walk and an RBI.

Stealing bases were Hoskins, Lisk, Simpson, Waugh and Hunter Drish with two.

Weaton turned in a stellar performance, allowing only one earned run on three hits and a walk. He struck out two batters in his five innings on the hill.

Fairfield and Mid-Prairie were tied at five when the Trojans pushed across a run in the top of the sixth to take a 6-5 lead. The Golden Hawks struck back with two in the bottom of the inning. The Trojans were not able to answer in the seventh.

Simpson went 2-3 with a run, a stolen base and two RBIs. Papazoglou was 2-3 with a walk, a steal and a run. Lisk went 1-2 with a double. Baumann drove in a run. Hoskins went 1-2 with a walk and a run. Cooper Drish singled, batted in a run and scored one himself.

Cole Engle took the loss, allowing six runs, four earned, on six hits and three walks in five innings of work. Lisk pitched one inning and allowed one earned run on two hits.
