Trojans win sixth straight, advance to substate final

By Justin Webster | May 24, 2018

The Fairfield boys are headed to the Class 2A substate 6 soccer final after defeating Knoxville 7-1 Wednesday night in Pella for their sixth straight victory.

Senior Chaysten Titus and freshman Ethan Nebinger led the way with two goals a piece, while sophomore Leone Gichure and ninth grader Xavier Kapijimpanga each had a goal and an assist. Junior Nicholas Frisbie and senior Shawn Spurrier each had two assists with the 12th-grader also having the seventh goal.

The Trojans will return to Tulip City Saturday for a noon kickoff against the 14-2 Dutch who defeated South Tama 4-0 in Wednesday night’s late game.

The two schools played at FHS April 5 with Pella winning 4-1, but the Dutch also played Knoxville two weeks ago and a single goal at home against the team the Trojans just beat by six scores at a nuetral site.
