On Tuesday, the visiting Fairfield Trojan girls’ tennis team defeated the Maharishi School Pioneers 9-0.

Fairfield upped its season record to 7-1.

Winning singles matches for Fairfield were Anatta Charoenkul, Dayna Price, Cami Schaefer, Hermela Gebremariam, Anna Beasley and Ashley Pool.

Winning doubles matches were Charoenkul-Gebremariam, Price-Schaefer and Beasley-Pool.

“I had a strong idea that we would beat MSAE,” Trojan head coach Heidi Grunwald said.

“I wasn’t sure that everyone would win but we came out strong. The doubles teams were very strong and only gave up three games total.”

The Pioneers suffered a 9-0 home loss to West Burlington Notre Dame last week.

Pioneer Bhavani Allison lost a close match 8-6. Also playing well for the Pioneers was the doubles team of Deepika Vempathi and Yenet Deribe, losing 8-6 in a tightly contested contest.
