U.S. 34 resurfacing project restarts

Jun 06, 2013

A resurfacing project to repair rough surface on U.S. 34 west of Ottumwa is scheduled to restart during the week of June 17, weather permitting, according to Iowa Department of Transportation’s District 5 Office.

The project, which has been delayed due to unfavorable weather conditions, includes hot-mix asphalt resurfacing and addition of a four-foot paved shoulder to the roadway.

This project is expected to be completed by late August.

IDOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey posted speed limits and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones.

As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles and wear seat belts.
