UPDATED: Beach Boys tribute brings surf sound to Sondheim Saturday

Mar 05, 2018

They were America’s band and brought the surf craze and a lifestyle of big waves, boss cars and pretty girls. They pioneered the wildly popular “Surf Sound,” selling more records than any other American band. They were the Beach Boys.

Get ready as “Sail On” brings a beach party playing homage to the Beach Boys and their music to the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center’s Stephen Sondheim Center for the Performing Arts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

“Sail On: The Beach Boys Tribute” performs more than 30 hits to sheer perfection, played exactly as you remember hearing them on their legendary albums. From “Little Deuce Coupe” to “Surfin’ Surfari” and from “California Girls” to “Good Vibrations,” “Sail On” take us back to the 1960s capturing the signs and sounds of an endless summer.

“Sail On” members have performed with musicians from Brian Wilson’s band, The Zombies, Earth Wind and Fire, Cheap Trick, Mark Lindsay and produced recordings for Micky Dolenz. The Nashville-based group features key members from “The Explorer’s Club,” who have been globally recognized for their Beach Boys inspired sound.

The group’s young look and authentic sound can only be compared to the original Beach Boys during the prime of their career, creating a wide touring show unlike anything else.

Tickets for “Sail On: The Beach Boys Tribute” are $27 for Zone 1, $23 for Zone 2, 3 and 4 and $10 for youth tickets. Tickets are available at the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center ticket office, 472-2787 or www.FairfieldACC.com.
