Used musical instruments needed for art project

Apr 20, 2017
PHOTO SUBMITTED Fairfield Art Association is seeking donations of old musical instruments or parts of instruments to be used in its “See the Music – Tune Into Our Vibe” summer art installation.

The Fairfield Art Association is looking for old, used musical instruments, or even parts of instruments, for use in its annual summer art installation.

“See the Music – Tune Into Our Vibe” is the theme this year for the artworks created by area artists that will be placed downtown beginning June 2. Anyone with parts or whole instruments can bring them to the Fairfield Art Association Studio in the Fairfield Arts & Convention Center.

“We are finding this year’s theme is a little tougher one for participants” said Fairfield Art Association volunteer director Suzan Kessel. “Any time we add in a sculptural or construction component, it is more difficult to get participants. But actually, entries can also be painted flat pieces as long as they represent the musical theme. We hope we get both – some using real musical elements and those just representing music.”

Fairfield Art Association has room for a few more entries and encourages anyone thinking about it, to contact Kessel soon by emailing suzan1252@aol.com.

The art association provides a square wood base to create on that attaches to the pole installation, and any musical parts that are brought in can be used by participants.
