Van Buren basketball teams to host ‘Red Out’ Friday

By Justin Webster | Jan 08, 2018
The Van Buren High Student Council will host a RED OUT fundraiser Friday night in Keosauqua during the girls’ and boys’ basketball games beginning at 6 p.m. Boys’ coach Fred Parsons poses holding the “red out” T-shirt.

This Friday, the Van Buren Student Council is sponsoring a “red out” for the American Heart Association at their girls’/boys’ doubleheader versus SEISC foe New London. The Student Council is selling red t-shirts for $10 each and wristbands for $5, with all monetary contributions going to the American Heart Association.

Heart disease is the cause of death for one in every four deaths in the U.S. and is the leading cause of death for both men and women. The Student Council is encouraging fans attending the games to wear red as a show of support for the research of heart disease and for those family members and friends who have suffered/are suffering from heart disease themselves.

T-shirts and wristbands are for sale at the Libertyville Savings Bank in Keosauqua, First Iowa State Bank in Keosauqua and by calling the Van Buren High School Student Council at 319-498-4698.
