Thursday night the Van Buren boys’ golf team defeated Wapello 179-205 in Southeast Iowa Super Conference play.

Luke Baker and and Tommy Laughlin led the Warriors with 44’s on the nine-hold course. Jonah Heckenberg and Jacob Plecker were just off the pace with 45 and 46, respectively, while Clayton Bruckman, 49, and Brycen Starnes, 50, rounded out the six varsity scores.

“Not bad for our first time out with this weather,” said Head Coach Tony Vandergriff.

“We need to get in the 160’s to play with the big boys,” added the third year coach. “I think the potential is there.”

Austin Giberson missed the match due to sickness and Lane Davis shot a 43 for the junior varsity team.
