Van Buren club plans prom dress sale Saturday

Jan 31, 2013

KEOSAUQUA — The Van Buren High School Spanish Club is sponsoring a prom dress sale from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Riverview Club in Keosauqua.

This is the third time the Spanish Club has sponsored a prom dress sale as a service to girls with dresses to sell and girls who are looking for a reasonably priced dress for prom or for a winter formal dance.

Anyone wishing to bring dresses to sell must bring them between 8-10 a.m. Saturday to the Riverview Club.

All dresses must be clean and in good condition. Accessories, such as jewelry and gently used shoes that are appropriate with a formal dress, may be brought.

A flat fee of $10 is charged for each dress, but no up-front fee for the accessories. The Spanish Club will ask for 10 percent of the selling price for the accessories if they are sold. If a dress sells, the Spanish Club will charge another $10. If a dress does not sell, no refund of the initial $10 fee is given.

Owners are asked to indicate what price they want to charge for their items, as well as what their minimum price would be.

If items do not sell, owners are asked to pick them up between 2-3 p.m. Saturday or ask someone else to pick them up. If unsold items are not picked up, they will be donated to a local charity.

For information, call Kathleen Humble at Van Buren High School at 319-293-3183.
