Van Buren girls win Moravia meet

The Van Buren cross-country team competed at the Moravia Invite Thursday at Honey Creek.

The Warrior girls won the meet. Audrey Smith was the fastest Warrior with a time of 21:48, good for third. Codi Welch came in fifth with a time of 22:50. Anna Neeley finished five seconds later in sixth.

Other finishers were: Ceyda Nazli, 12th, 24:57; Sarah Davis, 18th, 28:26; Julia Bruckman, 20th, 28:42; and Erin Tedrow, 25th, 33:11.

The boys had a number of great times, too. Jonah Jeckenberg came in second with a 17:31. John Orndoff finished sixth in 18:12.

Other finishers were: Jaeden Gerig, 13th, 19:06; Clay Neeley, 14th, 19:08; Caleb Stoltz, 26th, 21:23; Quentin Story, 27th, 21:25; Bryant Gerig, 31st, 22:31.

Isaac Caston won the junior varsity boys’ race with a time of 19:56. He was followed by Brycen Starnes in third with a 22:21.

Other JV runners were: Levi DeShane, sixth, 23:13; Chris Miller, seventh, 26:10; and Logan Orndoff, eighth, 30:33.

The Warriors will be in action again at 4:45 p.m. Tuesday when they run at Indian Lake near Farmington.
