Van Buren volleyball beats Danville Tuesday

DANVILLE - Van Buren volleyball coach Matt Zeitler has his team in great position as they prepare for the start of the playoffs next week.

The Warriors improved to 19-10 overall with a 3-1 victory at Danville Tuesday night.

Van Buren lost game one 19-25, before winning three straight, 25-14, 25-19 and 25-16 over the hometown Bears.

The top attackers were Selena Sayre and Hannah Hudson. Sayre had 41 attempts with 14 kills, while Hudson made 39 attack attempts, converting 15 kills. Sophomore Logan Schmidt had 41 of the team’s 44 assists, while freshman Isabell Manning led the Warriors in digs with 34, and aces with three.

Sophomore Chloe Davidson was also influential, leading the team in blocks with four, going 10-11 serving, recording the second most digs on the Warriors’ squad with 14 and third most kills with 12.
