The Warriors played eight matches in a three-day span.

Five of them came on Saturday when Van Buren traveled to Harmony for a tournament. The team would leave Harmony with a 2-3 record on the day. Van Buren beat Harmony twice, but lost to West Burlington and twice to Cardinal. Nicole Coffin had four kills and 12 digs in the second match against Harmony.

The Warriors played at the Holy Trinity tournament Monday and left 1-2. Their victory over Danville was the highlight of the night.

“If we could play like that every game then we would be pretty darn decent,” said head coach Matt Zeitler.

After a loss to Fort Madison, the Warriors played Holy Trinity. Holy Trinity’s coach would not substitute any of her players. Zeitler thinks she was essentially tried to make the score as lopsided as possible. Zeitler put his bench players in the game in response. The Crusaders would win in straight sets by the score of 21-1, 21-2.

Van Buren plays next at the SEISC tournament Thursday. Van Buren’s first round tournament location is Cardinal High school, and the Warriors face IMS in the first game.
