Vehicle strikes pedestrian in crosswalk

Yelana Loiselle, 24, was transported by ambulance to the Jefferson County Health Center Monday afternoon after she was struck by a van while walking in a crosswalk in Fairfield.

Jerry Ator, 55, was cited for failure to yield to a pedestrian in the crosswalk after he struck Loiselle with his vehicle on Burlington Avenue. Ator was traveling south on Second Street when he turned east onto Burlington Avenue, striking Loiselle, who was coming from the south side of the street.

Loiselle reported neck and back pain. She was placed on a stretcher and taken to the health center.
