Virginia May McTee -- 1929-2017

Virginia May McTee, 87, of Fairfield, died Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, in Iowa City.

The funeral is 7 p.m. Monday, at Fairfield Friends Church, with the Rev. Len Maselli officiating. Burial will be at a later date.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Fairfield Friends Church or Noah’s Ark Cards and memorials can be mailed to Connie Bryant, 335 S. Stuart St., North Liberty 52317. Online condolences can be made at www.behnerfh.com.

Behner Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Mrs. McTee was born July 21, 1929, to Albert “Bacil” and Ruth Nicholson Derby. She married Robert Dean McTee Sept. 1, 1948. He died July 12, 2009.

Mrs. McTee graduated from high school in 1948 and was the valedictorian of her class.

She helped her husband on the farm and worked at Fairfield Glove Factory, Acco Industry and J&B Plastics.

Mrs. McTee attended Fairfield Friends Church. She was a prayer warrior and continued praying until her death.

She loved her family. She loved her animals and working outside in her garden or yard.

Survivors include: daughters Connie Bryant of North Liberty, and Carol (James) Roach of Houston, Texas; son Jerry McTee of Gadsden, Alabama; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brother Jack Derby of Tucson, Arizona; and sisters, Nancy Weber of Benson, Arizona, and Roberta Clark of Wilcox, Arizona.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her parents; son-in-law the Rev. H. Burr Bryant; and daughter-in-law Nancy Bradley McTee.
