Logan Adam of the Ceniteers 4-H group washes his returning bucket bottle heifer Friday afternoon at the Jefferson County Fairgrounds to prepare for the beef show the following day. Adam has cared for the heifer ever since it was born. He mentioned that feeding it in the beginning was much more laborious than it is now, since back then he had to feed it milk through a bottle. Now he just has to put food out for it twice a day. Adam said he also raised chickens and made a lot of money from selling their eggs. He switched to raising cattle after finding out it was even more lucrative. Adam said he expected to earn about $1 per pound for his heifer, which weighs 1,080 pounds.
