Welsh would be dependable, supportive, honest board member

By Tiffany Kinzenbaw | Sep 07, 2017

To the editor:

I am writing in support of Christi Welsh for school board. I have been lucky to have known Christi for 34 years. She has been an active community member in Fairfield for most of her life, which makes her a great candidate for this position.

One of the characteristics I admire most about Christi is how dependable she is. She has helped me out immensely in the past few years, and I am forever grateful for everything she has done. She has gone out of her way to provide the support I needed in very difficult situations. I would only hope that everyone would have at least one friend as wonderful as Christi.

I have been an educator for 17 years and have engaged in many conversations with Christi in regards to teaching and learning. She is very passionate about all the issues in education, past and present. She is eager to understand the current realities of the day-to-day school life of students, teachers, and parents. In our conversations, her questions have always centered around students and their learning. For instance, we have talked about IEPs (Individualized Education Plan), differentiation, one-on-one associates, parent involvement, teacher planning time, assessments, and teacher unions.

I know that if Christi is honored with the position on the school board, she will value and receive feedback from all community members on what their ideal school system would be for Fairfield. She will continue to be open-minded and consider all viewpoints before making a final decision. Christi is the type of person you would want and need on the school board; dependable, supportive, honest, and open-minded. I hope you will vote on Election Day and give Christi your well-deserved vote.
