Youth programs set at Jefferson County Park

Jul 25, 2018

Jefferson County Conservation is offering several upcoming programs at Jefferson County Park.

The first is “Tadpole Camp” for youth going into first- and second-grades set for 9-11 a.m. Aug. 1-3.

Tadpole Camp celebrates everything that’s fun about the outdoors: walking on logs, searching for frogs and toads, exploring a stream. Each of the three days involves exploration and hands-on activities.

Participants should dress to get a bit wet and dirty each day; long pants are recommended, and no open-toed shoes are allowed.

The fee is $30 -- $10 per day or $5 per day if a parent accompanies their child. Preregistration is required. Call 472-4421 or email therese@jeffersoncountyconservation.com.

The second program is “Dutch Oven Cooking” for youth going into fifth-grade or above set for 4-6:30 p.m. Aug. 8.

Participants will learn the basics of Dutch oven cooking.

The $20 fee includes the cost of the food. Preregistration is required: 472-4421 or therese@ jeffersoncountyconservation.com.

More programs are planned throughout the summer. To see details, read the Naturally Speaking newsletter at www.jeffersoncountyconservation.com under the “What’s New & Edu. Programs” tab.
